    Gangtok, May 16, 2021 (IPR): The Labour Department, Government of Sikkim has extended a helping hand to the Health Department by offering two new ambulances as an assistance in managing the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the State.

    The keys of the two ambulances were handed over to Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Shri K. Sreenivasulu, through the hands of Hon'ble Minister of Labour Department, Shri M.N. Sherpa, in the presence of Secretary, Labour Department, Ms. Namrata Thapa, and other officials at the official residence of the Labour Minister at VIP Colony in Gangtok today.

    Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri M.N. Sherpa informed that the two ambulances registered under Sikkim Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (BOCWW), Labour Department have been handed over to the Health Department as an initiative to assist the department in addressing the emergency medical need of the people of Sikkim during the outbreak.

    He appealed to all to extend any possible help and support to the Health Department and healthcare workers in combating issues of supply shortage and encourage protection of the public. He urged for unity, strength and resilience among the people of the State amidst the ongoing second wave of Covid-19.

    Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Shri K. Sreenivasulu, extended immense gratitude to the Labour Department for their kind gesture and encouragement during this hour of crisis.
